La prepotencia de los alarmistas climáticos no tiene límites. Saben que dominan el mundo mediático, y las burocracias científicas, y que con ello pueden mentir impunemente. Por eso internet les pica. No pueden soportar los buenos blogs científicos, donde se han juntado y se están desarrollando las tesis en contra de la estupidez del CO2 como gran agente de cambio climático.

Solo que esta vez el profesor Steve Schneider se ha pasado varios pueblos. Acusando a quienes no comulgan con sus ruedas de molino de esconderse en blogs de internet, para rehuir el debate científico. Cuando lo que ocurre es exactamente lo contrario. Que tienen que reunirse en blogs porque los alarmistas no aceptan jamás debatir con ellos, ni por vergüenza torera. Pero a Schneider le han contestado con gran velocidad:

If these guys think they are “winning” why don’t they try to take on face to face real climatologists at real meetings–not fake ideology shows like Heartland Institute–but with those with real knowledge–because they’d be slaughtered in public debate by Trenberth, Santer, Hansen, Oppenheimer, Allen, Mitchell, even little ol’ me. It’s easy to blog, easy to write op-eds in the Wall Street Journal.”
Y el dr. Roger Pielke le ha contestado bien rápido (hoy, 25) [-->]:
In the following, I propose a debate (on-line and in person) of the following:
  • The human influence is minimal and natural variations dominate climate variations on all time scale;
  • While natural variations are important, the human influence is significant and involves a diverse range of first-order climate forcings (including, but not limited to the human input of CO2);
  • The human influence is dominated by the emissions into the atmosphere of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide.
Since Steve Schneider is the Editor of the journal Climatic Change, he could publish a set of review papers which summarize the scientific evidence with respect to this issue. I encourage Steve to use this venue to constructively advance the discussion of climate science.
Y yo, modestamente, me permitiré demostrarle a Schneider la utilidad de los blogs. Podría, por ejemplo si esté en desacuerdo con la tesis de Nir Shaviv sobre la influencia de los rayos cósmicos como factor principal del clima, discutir de ese asunto delante de todos, en el blog de Shaviv, en este enlace: The oceans as a calorimeter. Ni trampa ni cartón.

¿Aceptará Schneider el debate al que le reta Pielke? Mi apuesta es: no. Mi apuesta es que se rajará. A estas alturas ya hemos visto que es dificilísimo que los alarmistas acepten un debate limpio. Se esconden en la literatura “peer review”, cuya edición controlan. Y las pocas veces que aceptan debatir, pierden. Véase (la lista está sacada de IceCap):
